The Európska Rómska Pracovná Agentúra (European Roma Employment Agency, ERPA) is a Slovak NGO. The core business is to provide assistance to the Roma community, especially long-term unemployed persons and persons with low skills. ERPA offers incentives, counselling, education and extension activities.
The main Roma issues ERPA faces are extreme poverty, and a very low rate of involvement in the labour market, especially for Roma living in segregated settlements and Roma women. Also, Roma tend to drop out of the education system at an early stage. Research shows that in Slovakia, Roma are the most vulnerable group to face exclusion.
ERPA has carried out projects to provide Roma educational an on-the-job training. Social workers, curators and teachers are trained in order to increase sensitivity to the needs of marginalized groups. ERPA also organizes activities to promote integration and to fight against racism.
