The aim of this measure is to support concrete projects of civil society organisations from different participating countries. A variety of organisations, established at local, regional, national or European level, can be involved. Call for proposals under the EU's Seventh Framework Programme
A call for proposals has been launched under the 'Regions of Knowledge' (RoK) strand of the EU's Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Development. The RoK networks, which bring together various regional partners, aim to foster 'research driven clusters' with a thematic focus on enhancing the sustainable use of natural resources and of the natural and man-made environment. The EU Journalist Award on diversity reporting:
Journalists from all 25 EU Member States are invited to submit print or online articles on the issues of promoting diversity and combating discrimination. For the first time, a special prize will be granted to young journalists encouraging media professionals starting out on their career to write about discrimination and diversity issues. Candidates can submit articles that have been published between 1 January and 31 December 2006. The deadline for entries is 31 December 2006. Migrant women can face multiple discrimination - on grounds of gender and nationality or race. An open call for a study on "The role of migrant women in the labour market: current situation and future prospects” (VT/2006/050) sets the objective of assessing – and proposing measures to improve - the participation of migrant women in the labour market.

The European Commissions PHARE programme has assisted restructuring in Central and Eastern Europe since 1989. A new PHARE call for Romania aims to increase school participation among disadvantaged groups such as Roma. Further information can be found on the ENAR website and in the EuropeAid database.

call for an information and promotional campaign for the 2007 'European Year of Equal Opportunities for All'
The European Commission has launched an open call for an information and promotion campaign for the 2007 European Year of Equal Opportunities for All - Towards a Just Society. The information campaign will run across all EU Member States, Bulgaria and Romania and EFTA countries. The aim is to reach out to the general public, as well as groups that shape non-discrimination policies or support those who face discrimination. More information>>

New calls for tender for study on ethnic minority integration
 
The European Commission has launched a call for tender on the social and labour market integration of ethnic minorities. The study should focus on how to overcome barriers that ethnic minorities may face in gaining access to employment and analyse how membership of a particular ethnic minority might lead to certain barriers. The deadline for requesting or accessing relevant documents is 3 July 2006, and the final date for submitting a bid is 17 July 2006. . Read more>>

European Commission announces new calls for proposals
The two call for proposals are for:

1) Support towards the operating cost of a European level non-governmental organisation representing and defending the rights of Roma people (VP/2006/004)
The first call is to support a European level Roma organisation in its work to promote equal treatment and combat discrimination of Roma people. Further information about the EU and Roma is available on the European Commission's dedicated website.

 

2) National awareness-raising activities (VP/2006/005)

The second call is for national awareness-raising campaigns and is restricted to national authorities or NGOs and equality bodies nominated to act on behalf of a national authority. The maximum amount available for activities is € 150 000 for each Member State. Activities could be organised under the theme of the European Year of Equal Opportunities for All, which will take place in 2007.

Commission announces new calls for tender
The European Commission has posted three new calls for tender in the field of anti-discrimination. The calls are to: 1. Carry out a study on collecting data to measure progress in anti-discrimination policies; 2. Organise and run training seminars for NGOs and social partners; and 3. Conduct a study on multiple discrimination in the EU. The deadline for sending offers for the two studies is 12 June 2006. Responses to the call for training must be submitted by 26 June. Call for proposals to conduct studies:

The Swiss Foundation for Population, Migration and Environment (PME) And the International Metropolis Project have published a Call for Proposals to conduct studies of: 1) The economic integration of skilled migrants, or 2) The integration of religious minorities. Both the Foundation and Metropolis intended for the studies to test and to set the stage for more comprehensive work that will fully explore these important topics. Successful applicants may receive up to 100,000 euros. Research outlines pertaining to these studies should be submitted no later than June 2nd, 2006. xchange of good practice in youth work between Europe and Africa, the Caribbean, Pacific (ACP), Asia, Latin America
This call, under the YOUTH programme aims to support projects which promote an exchange of experience and good practice in the field of youth between the European Union, candidate countries and EFTA/EEA on the one hand, and countries of Africa, the Caribbean, Pacific (ACP), Asia and Latin America on the other hand. The general objectives of these projects shall be to contribute to the development of youth policies and youth work, and of the voluntary sector, as well as to capacity-building and leadership development for youth organisations/structures in the countries concerned. Creative Clusters has published a call for presentation to contribute to Creative Clusters 2006 in NewcastleGateshead, UK. The deadline is Monday 22nd May 2006. Creative Clusters is an independent policy forum, fostering debate about creativity and the creative economy, about culture and commerce. Call for Proposals- DG Education and Culture
Within the framework of a EU democracy campaign following the 60 th anniversary of the liberation from fascism, this call supports initiatives which encourage European citizens to engage in building a democratic Europe further, so that it can become a continent free from violence, racism and discrimination. There are two thematic areas to be addressed: a) remembrance (topromote exchanges of experience from different perspectives on World War II in Europe, with the specific intention to raise awareness) and b ) democracy (to raise awareness on European values and to encourage debates on the dangers to democracy. Call for proposals- DG Education and Culture (46/05)

This call for proposals supports initiatives conducted by a) Non-governmental organisations and b) Associations and Federations of European interest, participating in European dialogue, on specific themes relating to the objectives of the programme to promote active European citizenship. Project proposals should relate to one or more of the thematic areas, with a view to encouraging reflection and discussion on the consolidation of the European Union, and / or promoting and disseminating its values and objectives. 28 September 2005 - Calls for Proposals for Town Twinning projects
Two new calls for proposals for town-twinning projects in the EU Member States (as well as Bulgaria and Romania) have been published by the European Commission's DG Education and Culture. The first call is for initiatives such as the organisation of conferences, training seminars and information campaigns; the second focuses on meetings between citizens. The Culture 2000 programme contributes to the promotion of cultural area common to the European Peoples. Each year the community supports annual and multi-annual cultural events and projects carried out in partnership or in the forms of networks. The deadline for applications is the 17 October 2005 for annual and translation projects and 28 October 2005 for multi-annual projects. Go to Culture 2000 website

29 August - Leonardo da Vinci Programme (Project proposals)
 The Leonardo da Vinci programme contributes to the implementation of a vocational training policy for the Community and promotes new practical approaches in vocational training policies. The third and final call for proposals is valid for two years (2005-2006) and concerns the following Community measures: Mobility, Pilot Projects (PP) including Thematic actions (TH), Language competences (LA), Transnational networks (NT) and Reference material (RF). The deadlines are as follows:
Procedure A - Concerning the Mobility measure, Deadline: 10 February 2006
Procedure B – (Pilot Projects (except Thematic Actions), Language competences and Transnational networks, and
Procedure C - Reference materials measure, the Thematic Actions proposals and proposals submitted by European organisations under all measures (except Mobility), Deadline: pre-proposal 30 September 2005, full proposal 10 February 2006.

Call for applications for experts in the framework of the Leonardo da Vinci programme (OJ C 298, 30.11.2002)

The Commission launched on 30 November 2002 a call for applications with a view to constituting lists of experts to participate in various activities related to the Leonardo da Vinci programme. To participate in consultancy activities relating to the 2006 selection exercises, only applications submitted on 30 September 2005 at the latest will be considered. Applications received after this deadline will be taken into consideration for activities under the next selection exercises. Read more>>
